RECENT THAI GOVERNMENT POLICIES TO NEW MEDIA, HEALTH AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Lewis G
This paper will consider how new Thai government policies implemented since the election of the Thai-Rak-Thai government in January 2001 concerning health, local government administration, and rural development have been presented in the media. Special attention will be given to first, the role of the Internet and community broadcasting and second, the question of how the government’s use of the media to communicate its policies is related to the earlier promises about media reform that had been made in the 1997 constitution.
