Some common plants used in Ayurvedic preparation were evaluated for Antioxidant activity contents

  1. Valerian wallichi                                        20.9
  2. Tribulus Terrestris                                     11
  3. Daucus carota                                          22
  4. Cichorium intybus                                     11
  5. Chenopodium album                                  9
  6. Glycine soja                                            13.3
  7. Mentha spicats                                         32
  8. Allium hookeri                                          33

Eight Indian herbs  popularly used for medicinal purpose were evaluated for  Antioxidant activity of extracts by DPPH method. The results showed that methanolic extract of all the plant materials had very high antioxidant activity, amongst them, Allium hookeri extract in the methanol showed highest value of AOA by DPPH methods (33 %).
