Zinc Nutrition in Chickpea

Zinc

Deficiency generally occurs in soils with a high pH and in chickpea-rice cropping system. Basal application of zinc sulfate (10-25 kg ha-1) gives a positive response. Foliar application of 0.5% Zinc sulfate mixed with 0.25% lime was also effective in correcting zinc deficiency

Common Zinc Deficiency Symptoms
  1. Pale green young leaves.
  2. Reddish-brown pigmentation on the margins of the upper surface of the lower leaflets of the stem.
  3. Chlorotic stipules with a reddish-brown margin on young leaves.
