Training on “vKVK and KVK Net” of 25-KVKs of Zone-VI held at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur on 08th March 2013 in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. 32 KVK scientists participated in the training programme. Dr. Sunil Intodia, from Department of Extension Education, MPUAT, Udaipur welcomed all the participants; and Dean College of Computer Technology Institute, Sukhadia University, Udaipur. Computer Programmers/ nominated SMS of 25 KVKs of Rajasthan and Gujarat participated in the training and got registered with vKVK under IIT Kanpur. Dr YV Singh, ZPD, Zone-VI was the Chief Guest. Dr Singh in his inaugural address pointed out that after successful implementation of Kisan Mobile Advisory the farmers got timely SMS about different packages of practice on crop and livestock husbandry. However, the new concept of vKVK and KVK Net has its own importance and there is an urgent need to implement in all the KVKs. He further added that voice-KVK will be more useful and helpful in mobile agro-advisory to the farmers, as this technology helps in delivering the message instantly to all the registered farmers under respective KVK. The remaining KVKs of Zone-VI would be covered under vKVK in the second phase of this training under the technical guidance of IIT Kanpur. Dr Singh called upon all KVK trainees of this training to work on recently developed information technology transfer at grass-root level in order to provide technical know-how to all the stakeholders in the district; as KVKs being knowledge resource centre at district level. In the afternoon there was a hand-on-practice and feedback session in which the trainees expressed their ideas about the usefulness of this training and how to make it more user friendly. Dr Intodia (representative of DEE) recorded vote of thanks to the ZPD, IIT Kanpur and Dean College of CTI, Udaipur for providing computer facility to individual participant for practice.
