Sowing of late wheat crop

Late sowing of wheat should be completed in the 2nd fortnight of December. Sowing after that will lead to loss in crop yield. UP 2338, UP 2425, UP 2565, DBW 14, PBW 373 are important varities for Tarai region of Uttarakhand and western U.P.. Seed rate for late sown should be 20% higher than normal sown crop i.e. about 120kg/ha. Row to row planting dsitance should be 18cm. Regarding fertilzer, the dose for NPK should be lower than the dose recommended for timely sown. Use NPK @100, 40 & 30 kh/ha, respectively. Preferably use certifified seed, if using your own seed plaese check the germinatio percentage before putting the seed in field as good germination ensures optimum plant stand, which is utmost desired for good yield.
