Gajri

Common name: Fumatory

Scientific Name: Fumaria palviflara

Description

  • Gajri is also known as bansoya.It is an annual delicate herb belonging to Fumariaceae family.
  • Plants grow up to the height of 90 cm and have shallow root system.
  • Besides wheat it also infest barley and rabi pulses.
  • Its reproduction is through seed. It has weak trailing and spreading stem.
  • Leaves are small, finely lobed and bitter in taste.It bears purplish flowers and fruits having rounded top.

 


Control Measure

  • Preemergence spray of pendimethalin 30 EC(Stomp) at the rate of 3.3 liter/ha in 500-750 litres of water at the time of 2-3 days after sowing. Application can also be done by tractor-mounted sprayer. There should be good soil moisture for better performance.
  • Post-emergence application of 2,4-D at the rate of 500 g/ha, metsulfuron at the rate of 4 g/ha, sulfosulfuron at the rate of 25 g/ha, isoproturon at the rate of 1kg/ha and cafetrazone at 20 g/ha in 250-300 litres of water at the time of 30-35 days after sowing.
