Downy Mildew Management in Rapeseed and Mustard

 

 

Causal Organism: Peronospora brassicae

Symptoms:

1. In disease affected plants, yellow irregular spots appear on the upper surface of the leaves and white growh is visible on the upper surface of the spots.
2. If the attack is severe, inflorescence is also affected.
3. The affected inflorescence in malformed, twisted and covered with a white powder. No pods are produced on such inflorescence.

Control Measures:

1. Treat the seed with Apron 35 SD at the rate of 6 g/kg of seed before sowing.
2. Spray the crop with 0.2 % Ridomil or 0.1% Karathane as soon as the symptoms are noticed and repeat the spray two to three times at 10 days interval.
