S.N:Othreis fullonia and O. materna (Noctuidae: Lepidoptera)
- Serious pest
- Adult is the damaging stage
- Also attack pomegranate, mango, grapes etc.
Appearance:
- Adults are large, brightly coloured, FW dark brown or grayish.
- HW orange with bean shaped marking at the center in O. fullonia and round spot in O. materna
- Larva is brightly coloured with orange, yellow and blue spots on speckled body and is semilooper
Biology:
- Spherical eggs are laid singly on the weed hosts (climber) like Cocculus pendulus, C. hirsutus and Tinospora cardifolia which grow along fence or hedges around the orchards
- IP- 3 days; LP- 20 days; PP- 9 days
- Pupation inside in the leaf fold
Control measure:
- Carbaryl 50 WP @ 4 gm/lt OR Endosulfan 35 EC @ 2 ml/lt
