Is cotton seed shortage for real?

This year there is news of shortage of Bt cotton seeds everywhere. How far this is true? If one examines the sequence of events, and the facts related to private seed production, the truth appears to be otherwise.

Price for seeds: Demand of the seed companies

Seed companies demand that price for Bollgard-I and Bollgard-II (Bt cotton seeds) should be increased for the kharif season. They wanted a hike of Rs.200 on BG-I (from Rs.650 to Rs.850) and Rs.300 on BG-II (from Rs 750 to Rs 1,050).
