Here we go with the Second Advance Estimates of crop production for 2009-10. This is part of the spreadsheet I maintain - it goes back to 1997-98. This selection is for 2008-10 so that it fits in this space:

            Potato is the third most important food crop in the world which is consumed by more than a billion people. The demand for potato is much higher worldwide and will increase in the future especially from developing nations. Food and Agriculture Organization of UN has declared potato as 'Food for future'.
